Regina Petteway is the Director of Wake County Human Services, a consolidated agency. She has served in this capacity since 2015.

She brings 34 years of government experience to her role, including 23 years with Wake County. She began her career as a public health field worker with the General Baptist State Convention in Raleigh, N.C. before serving 10 years in state government working on public health, policy and planning, budget and public education issues.

Petteway believes that the key success in life is forming good relationships while working collaboratively with partners to help build capacity to meet the community’s needs.

Petteway holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

In her role as Director, Petteway leads a staff of nearly 1,600 employees in 15 locations across the county. She and her staff are responsible for delivering public health, social, housing and transportation services to a county of over one million people.
