Family Focus
It’s normal for families to have questions about breastfeeding. Even a mom who has breastfed before may have questions or concerns, because every baby is different. If you have questions, or if your baby needs a little help in learning to breastfeed, Wake County Human Services’ WIC Program can help.
If you are pregnant and want more information about how breastfeeding can fit into your life, WIC’s prenatal breastfeeding service is for you! By calling the general WIC number 919-250-4720 and choosing option “6” from the menu, you can speak with a breastfeeding counselor to return your call and answer questions about breastfeeding. For pregnant women already on WIC in Wake County, a breastfeeding counselor will call you once each trimester during your pregnancy to answer questions you may have about breastfeeding.
For mothers on WIC in Wake County, “Breastfeeding Techs” make home visits as soon as possible after a mother gets home from the hospital.
