Crisis situations are often best resolved in the client's home setting. The Mobile Crisis Team is available anytime – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – to respond to urgent situations.
The Mobile Crisis Team has an average response time of two hours, and professionals will speak with the client and caregivers during a visit. This service is provided by

The Crisis and Assessment Center is a clinic operated by the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, UNC-Chapel Hill. Clients can walk in to the crisis center and receive a professional mental health assessment and referral to services, including psychiatric hospitals.
Appointments are not needed, but a wait time of several hours is likely.
