Human Services Director

Ramon Rojano
Director, Wake County Human Services

Ramon Rojano
Ramon Rojano became the director of Wake County Human Services on April 9, 2007. He leads the County’s largest agency, nearly 1,700 staff members responsible for providing social services, mental health, public health, affordable housing, job training, transportation and child support enforcement programs.

Ramon comes to Wake County with more than 25 years of senior-level experience in human services and local government management – primarily in Hartford, Conn., where he served as the director of the City’s Health and Human Services Department.

Ramon holds medical degrees as a physician and psychiatrist and has master’s degrees in both public health and family therapy. He continues to be licensed to practice medicine and psychiatry in his native Colombia. Upon moving to the United States in 1986, he decided not to seek a medical license here, but rather work in the fields of human services, public health and community mental health.

In December 2004, the prestigious Psychotherapy Networker magazine selected him as one of the top five Citizen Therapists in the United States. He is a member of the American Family Therapy Academy, the American Public Health Association, National Association of City and County Health Officials, and CityMATCH. Ramon is married and has three children.
