Temporary Food Establishments
Effective July 1, 2008, Wake County Environmental Services will be collecting a $50.00 fee for each temporary food establishment (TFE) permit issued.
Coordinator applications, Vendor applications, and Vendor Fees must be submitted at least 14 days prior to the event for consideration. Each question must be answered or the application will be returned.
A "Temporary Food Establishment" permit is required to sell food or drink at a special event. This permit is issued in conjunction with a fair, carnival, circus, public exhibition, or other similar gathering that operates for a period of 15 days or less. Examples are the NC State Fair, holiday festivals, traveling carnivals and special events.
Establishments that only serve dip ice cream, popcorn, peanuts, snow cones, candied apples, fried dough and cotton candy do not require a temporary food establishment permit from this department.
