The Wake County Fire Code Enforcement staff provides a variety of progressive fire prevention services.
The section is charged with the responsibility of enforcing the North Carolina State Fire Prevention Code, which relates to fire prevention in structures. Periodic inspections are conducted on all structures except one- and two-family dwellings. Each staff person is assigned jurisdiction areas of responsibility in the code enforcement program. Currently the Wake County Fire Services Division conducts inspections in all unincorporated areas of Wake County and in the towns of Rolesville and Wendell.
In conjunction with periodic inspections, the section also issues several different fire prevention permits. This includes public fireworks display permits, blasting permits and others.
Fire code enforcement staff works closely with the Inspections/Development Plans/Permits Division of the Wake County Community Services Department to perform various inspections, review construction plans and specification and issue certificates of occupancy.
