WHAT IS PROJECT ASSIST?

ASSIST
, stands for the American Stop Smoking Intervention Study. Project ASSIST is a community coalition that focuses on educating the community on the harmful effects of secondhand smoke exposure and encouraging businesses/organizations to adopt a tobacco free policy.

WHAT WE PLAN TO DO

  • Build support for state/local public policies to eliminate secondhand smoke exposure
  • Educate employers on the benefits of offering cessation coverage
  • Promote the use of Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • Promote North Carolina Quitline
  • Increase tobacco free policies in worksites


WE NEED YOUR HELP, PLEASE JOIN OUR COALITION AND WORK ON A COMMITTEE:

Media/Advocacy
(letters to the editor, creating educational tobacco messages)
Cessation (providing education and cessation resources within the community)
Capacity Building (networking and building partnerships within the County)
Special Projects (special events related to tobacco awareness days)
