Wake CountyEMS is in the process of moving the EMS Fund to a new program administrator. Renewals and new memberships are currently unavailable until the new administrator is active. Current members will not lose coverage under the subscription program during this transition. Renewal notices will be sent out to current members in the middle of September.
Program brochures will be sent to all residents in late September.
Everyone experiences emergencies from time to time – they're simply a part of life. Unfortunately, they're also costly. For instance, a typical emergency ambulance transport can often exceed $500, and most insurance providers, including Medicare, will not cover the full amount of an ambulance bill.
The Wake County Rescue Squad EMS Fund
Fortunately, Wake County Emergency Medical Services offers all residents of Wake County relief from direct cost of ambulance services. For $60 per year, you and all permanent residents of your household can receive emergency 911 ambulance service anywhere in Wake County as many times as needed. Your annual subscription fee relieves you of any direct costs of 911 ambulance service not paid by your insurance. Your coverage begins 2 days after receipt of your payment and ends on September 30.
In addition to the coverage your family receives, all of the money from your subscription membership is returned to Wake EMS or the rescue squad that serves the area where you live. This provides valuable operating funds to ensure the continued high level of emergency medical care that you have come to expect.
While all of us like to believe that we will never have the need to dial 911, every day citizens across Wake County need an ambulance due to an illness or injury. That is why you should act now and join the Rescue Squad/EMS Fund. Because the last thing you should have to worry about in an emergency is paying for the ambulance bill.
