Mr. Tony Crawford began his career with Wake County in 1989. He was initially employed as a part-time paramedic and moved to full-time status in April 1990. In October 1995, he was promoted to Field Training Officer and to District Chief in September 1999. In 2003, he was promoted to Assistant Chief - Operations. In his current position of Division Chief, which he has held since 2008, he is responsible for budget development and management, fleet and facility development, grant oversight, technology projects, and the EMS CAD and communications systems.
Assistant Chief Crawford holds an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in EMS from Wake Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Health Science degree from Campbell University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He has attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte's Management Institute as well as the Local Government Management Institute program. Assistant Chief Crawford is Nationally Registered, certified as a Tactical Paramedic, and he received the Garland H. Jones Wake County Employee of the Year award in 1999.
Assistant Chief Crawford lives in Raleigh with his wife and family.
