The 2006 Wake County EMS System Protocols Take Effect

7/27/2006

The most aggressive and comprehensive version of the Wake County Patient Care Protocols and Procedures take effect today. Some of the additions include morgan lenses, gum elastic bougie, Tetracaine, and Impedance Threshold Device (ITD). The protocols were approved by the North Carolina Office of EMS and the Wake County EMS System Peer Review Committee in February.

In March, System Advanced Life Support (ALS) personnel attended mandatory protocol in-service training. Following the training class, personnel had to take an online protocol exam to ensure understanding of the new protocols.
