FTO Bachman Receives Award

On Tuesday, May 9, 2006 Field Training Officer (FTO) Mike Bachman received the American Ambulances Association’s Star of Life Award. The awards banquet was part of a three-day program designed to publicly recognize and celebrate the achievements of all people working in the selfless and heroic world of ambulance service providers. The Stars of Life Program seeks to honor outstanding individuals as a thank you for the service, sacrifice and inspiration they bring to all of us. Just as importantly the Program seeks to honor these individuals as representatives and ambassadors of our industry so that government agencies and members of Congress value the contribution we make to our communities every day.

The Stars of Life Program was held in Washington, DC at the Omni Shoreham Hotel from May 7 – 10. FTO Bachman had the opportunity to speak with Senator Richard Burr, Representatives Bob Etheridge and Brad Miller, and a senior staff member from Senator Elizabeth Dole’s office. “It gave me the opportunity to discuss the major issues facing EMS with the people who can address them,” stated Bachman. He added, “Medicaid and disaster reimbursement, and domestic preparedness were just a few of the topics we discussed.” “These issues affect not just Wake County EMS, but all of us.”

FTO Bachman was nominated by his supervisors for his “leadership and service” he provides daily. “I am truly honored to have received this award.”
