The Chief of Professional Development is responsible for all aspects of education and training for the EMS System. Included are continuing medical education, patient care simulation training/evaluation, EMS academies, and medical training for first-responder agencies across the system. Chief Garner has dedicated staff to support the programs.
Chief Garner was first hired by Wake County EMS in 1998 as a field paramedic. He was promoted to Training in 2001, and to Deputy Director in 2013. He has served many years as a Bike Team Paramedic and held administrative duties for the bike team for several years.
Chief Garner has a Bachelor of Applied Science and an Associates in EMS.
