When large crowds gather, getting to a patient can present special challenges. The EMS Department's team of certified EMS cyclists brings advanced medical care that works in tight spaces and large crowds. The team is capable of fielding bike teams consisting of two paramedics and a complete kit of advanced life support medical equipment.
The bike team is typically used at large outdoor events that may require maneuvering through crowds to get paramedic care at patient's side in a short amount of time.

Examples are NC State football games, large downtown events, the state fair, marathons, and other comparable events.

The bike team is one of the tools that Wake County EMS may opt to deploy depending on the event.

Request EMS coverage for an event.

Special event coordinators will evaluate your event.  They will determine whether coverage can be offered, and if so, what types of EMS resources will be used to cover it.
