  • Applications submitted by mail or hand-delivered must be received by Wake County Human Resources no later than 5:15 p.m. of the posted closing date.
  • Applications submitted online or by fax must be received by Wake County Human Resources before midnight of the posted closing date.
  • Applications received after the closing date are not eligible for consideration. If you are applying for more than one position, you must submit an application for each position. All applications become the property of Wake County and cannot be returned.
  • It is important that your application be as complete as possible when submitted. Incomplete applications are not referred to the hiring departments. Resumes are welcome as a supplement to the application but will not be accepted in lieu of the application.
  • In accordance with the provisions of the Personnel Privacy Statute NC G.S. 153A-98, Human Resources can only acknowledge receipt of your application by return of your self-addressed, stamped Applicant Acknowledgment Card or in person with proper identification (i.e., a picture ID).
  • Persons with disabilities should notify Human Resources and request accommodations during the application and selection process, if necessary.

Check the following items before submitting your application:

  • Have you included the correct Job Number and Position Title on the application?
  • Have you listed your phone number correctly or number where you can be reached?
  • Did you list your complete education and training background?
  • Did you list any relevant registrations or certifications specific to the job?
  • If applicable, have you included a foreign degree equivalency verification?
  • Have you indicated whether your work experience is full-time or part-time?
  • Did you list your major job duties/responsibilities?
  • Have you signed and dated your application?

To be considered for employment, applicants who have obtained their education outside the United States and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated as equivalent to those conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the Unites States. There are several agencies that perform this service.

If a typing test is required, the position announcement will state, "Test Required." All applicants, including current Wake County employees, must complete the typing test by the advertised closing date. Prospective applicants may take a typing test at any testing center (i.e., Wake County Human Resources Office, Employment Security Commission, Temporary Staffing Office, Development Center, etc.).
