It usually happens when you least expect it. A house fire breaks out in the middle of the night. A medical emergency comes on without warning. A large hurricane speeds across the Atlantic toward North Carolina and causes devastation that disrupts many lives. When these emergencies happen, Wake County's emergency network is prepared to help our community.
The Public Safety Department's Administrative Division directs the development and implementation of policy and programs necessary to conduct the functions of local government, specifically in the area of Public Safety and Criminal Justice. It supervises the development and implementation of programs related to emergency response in Wake County. Also, it provides administrative guidance and support to programs assigned to the Department of Public Safety. Furthermore, it provides leadership to ensure adequate emergency response capability for all of Wake County.
