Facilities Design and Construction
The Wake County Facilities Design & Construction (FD&C) Department manages the planning, design and construction of all capital improvement projects undertaken by the County (such as new libraries, fire and ambulance stations, jail facilities and human services' buildings.) Experienced project managers outsource all design services, construction work and materials testing, as allowed by N.C. General Statutes.
FD&C also manages real estate acquisitions, disposition of surplus real property, and negotiation of easements, encroachments, land rights and long-term facility leases. This involves working with numerous Wake County, municipal and state agencies, along with attorneys, commercial Realtors and private property owners. FD&C also is responsible for outsourcing all surveying and mapping necessary to support the County's many Capital Improvement Projects, real estate functions and solid waste activities.
