The Fire and Rescue Division is a nationally recognized group that works efficiently to protect all of Wake County's citizens. Fire and Rescue Services ensures the delivery of the highest quality of professional service in fire code enforcement, emergency response, fire investigations, planning, fire/rescue training, and readiness for emergencies. Fire and Rescue accomplishes its mission through five program areas: Fire/Rescue Administration, Fire Code Enforcement/Fire
Prevention, Fire/Rescue Training, Emergency Response, and Fire Suppression.

Division of Emergency Management
The Emergency Management Office is responsible for ensuring protective actions for the public through a uniform and organized effort to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and technological emergencies (such as hurricanes, tornadoes, ice or snow storms or nuclear disasters). This includes the traditional emergency management functions, including the management of the Wake County Emergency Operations Center; coordination with emergency response agencies, municipalities and private sector agencies; and coordination of emergency communications, which includes the 9-1-1 telephone service.
