Emergency Management
The Emergency Management Office, a division of the Public Safety Department, is responsible for ensuring protective actions for the public through a uniform and organized effort to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and technological emergencies (such as hurricanes, tornadoes, ice or snow storms or nuclear disasters). This includes the traditional emergency management functions, including the management of the Wake County Emergency Operations Center; coordination with emergency response agencies, municipalities and private sector agencies; and coordination of emergency communications, which includes the 9-1-1 telephone service.
