Committees Charge
Human Services Issue Committees
General Charge:
All committees have three areas of focus:
- Providing broad advocacy on the issue(s)
- Providing community awareness on the issue(s)
- Increasing or garnering political support for the issue(s)
LME and MH/DD/SAS Continuum of Care Committee:
(meets monthly, 3rd Tuesday, noon-2 p.m., Human Services Center-Swinburne, Rm. 5032)
Mission Statement (Adopted October 21, 2008)
The Continuum of Care/LME Committee, in partnership with consumers, their families, and providers will assure a full continuum of services for people affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse. Together we will build and maintain an array of services and supports so that all can lead fulfilling lives as valued and contributing members of our Wake County Community.
Social Services:
(meets monthly, 1st Fri., 9-10 a.m., Human Services Center-Swinburne, Rm. 5032)(Subcommittees: Children, Adults and Affordable Housing)
Affordable Housing:
(meets monthly, 3rd Wed., 4 - 5:15 p.m., Rm. 5032)
- Review requests for proposals developed by Wake County's Housing & Community Revitalization Division before they are submitted to developers.
Regional Networks Development:
(meets quarterly, 4th Thurs., 10 a.m. or immediately following the Regular Board meeting, Human Services Center-Swinburne, Rm. 5040)
- Create advocacy, awareness and community and political support for the need and value of regional networks of care.
Executive Committee:
(meets monthly, fluctuating schedule – 2nd or 3rd Mon., Human Services Center-Swinburne, 8 a.m., Rm. 5032)
- Review and study policy and related administrative issues (non-priority issues) that must be acted upon by the Board
- Ensure the progress of Committee workplans
- Conduct the nominating process for new Board members and officers and ensure quality Board representation.
Consumer and Family Advisory Committee
(meets 4th Tues., 5:30-7:30 p.m., Human Services Center-Swinburne, Rm. 5032)
- Advise the agency regarding service gaps
- Contribute to the monitoring of quality of services
- Review local and state plans for MH reform
- Contribute to the measurement of consumer satisfaction
- Review best practices.
Community/Public Health:
(meets monthly, 3rd Fri., noon-2 p.m., Rex Birth Center – Blue Ridge Road)
Create advocacy, awareness and community and political support for Human Services efforts that work to create a healthier Wake County community.
Environmental Services Committee:
(meets monthly, 2nd Fri., 11:30 a.m., Library Admin., Carya Drive)
- Protect and improve the environment, promote public health by creating an awareness of our relationship to the environment, and creating community and political action.
Human Rights/Consumer Affairs:
(meets monthly, 1st Thurs., noon, Human Services Center-Swinburne, Rm. 5032)
- Ensure that the Board is responsive and proactive on human rights issues by
- Creating among the Board a broader understanding of human rights issues within the agency;
- Identifying progress and needs in service areas within the Agency; and
- Bringing information to the Board that informs them of the Agency's relationship with consumers.
