Blue Ribbon Committee
The Board of Commissioners established the Blue Ribbon Committee on the Future of Wake County in December 2005
. The committee, chaired by local business executives Fred Day and Frank Holding Jr., examined
Wake County’s long-term needs for facilities such as schools, libraries and jails, and for transportation, water, sewer and other infrastructure. The Blue Ribbon Committee was a partnership of Wake County, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Wake County Mayors Association. The task force was charged with: - Compiling an inventory of current infrastructure plans and projected costs for public and technical schools, transportation, water and sewer, libraries, parks, open space, jails and public buildings.
- Determining funding needs and gaps.
- Preparing a final report, that was delivered to the Board of Commissioners in May 2006.
