2009 Fiscal Year Budget



The adopted budget for fiscal year 2009 is $984,360,000. This is an increase of $54.3 million, or 5.8 percent, over the fiscal year 2008 amended budget and includes a 2.5 cent property tax increase.   Watch video of the budget presenation.

The property tax increase will bring the tax rate to 53.4 cents. The new funds will be used for:

  • Debt incurred as a result of voter-approved bond projects for Wake Technical Community College, Open Space preservation and Public Libraries.
  • Operating increases for new schools in the Wake County Public Schools System.
  • Increases in funding for the Board of Commissioners priority focus areas of public safety and law enforcement. Read the press release.
