| Wake Technical Community College, the state’s second largest community college, is asking for $115 million to fund new building projects over the next four years. Of this amount, the County will ask voters to approve $92 million in bonds and pay for the rest with cash from the County’s budget.
Wake Tech’s mission centers on education and workforce training, which provides Wake County employers with the skilled, world-class workforce they need to remain competitive in today’s global economy.

- 57,000 this year
- 78,000 in 2015 (40% growth projected)
Planned bond | $92 million (Oct. 2007)
Funds would be used to:
- Construct a new building at Northern Wake Campus to offer classes in financial services, pervasive computing and informatics.
- Build a new facility at the Health Sciences Campus to train more nurses, radiology/MRI technicians and other allied health professionals.
- Renovate Public Safety facility on Chapanoke Road for law enforcement, EMS and fire safety officer training.
- Repair or renovate several buildings on the Main Campus, including the Library Education, Mechanical Technology and Student Services buildings.
